Dr. Mark Turrill

Mark exemplifies the heart of a servant and gifts our church in a variety of ways; prayer leader and secretary of our board. You are also likely to find him in the kitchen washing dishes after one of our many dinners.
He and his wife, Carmen, have been married for more than 30 years and members of UBC since 1996. Their 3 children have grown up in this congregation. All are young adults now, pursuing high school completion, college and careers. All three are a testimony to the loving, involved Christian upbringing that Mark and Carmen have given them.
Mark is Dr. Turrill, having completed his education with a B.A. from the University of Southern California in interdisciplinary studies, biology and religion. His M.D. is from Washington University School of Medicine. His practice of oncology is also his field of evangelism. He is the example of Jesus that many people only see when they are faced with the struggles of an awful disease.
Among his pastimes are reading; "I love reading scripture more than medical text books, (I read both!)" He is also an avid gardener and farmer, raising goats and one very fat sheep!
He has many favorite verses, among them Psalm 73:25-26
"Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
Because, it emphasizes the weakness of life on earth versus God's supreme promise in eternity.
